The Santa Barbara Film Festival honored director David Fincher in a special tribute in 2009. At the time, Fincher—seen here with film journalist Pete Hammond, at right—was in the throes of a whirlwind Oscar campaign for his film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which had garnered 13 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
